Washington: FIFA President Gianni Infantino announced that US President Donald Trump confirmed his support for Iran's participation in the 2026 World Cup, scheduled to be held in the United States, Mexico, and Canada.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Iranian national team was absent from the FIFA planning summit held last week in Atlanta for tournament participants, raising questions about their participation given the escalating regional tensions.

Infantino posted on his official account that he met with US President Donald Trump and they discussed Iran's qualification for the tournament and the current situation in Iran, with Trump reiterating his support for Iran's participation in the tournament on US soil.
