Informed Source Reveals Imminent Resolution of Diyala Political Crisis

Baghdad: An informed source confirmed that the Diyala Council will resume its official sessions within the next two weeks. The political crisis in Diyala is approaching its end after a series of meetings among political blocs that recognized the necessity of achieving political, security, and service stability in the province.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the disruption of the council’s work in the previous period had a detrimental impact on service delivery and development projects. The resumption of official sessions of the Diyala Council will occur after participating political parties agreed to end the crisis, ensuring the continuation of political work in the province.

The source further stated that Omar Al-Karwi, the head of the Diyala Provincial Council, disclosed last month during a press conference that there were attempts to disrupt the council’s work. These attempts involved urging political blocs to prevent members from attending sessions and aiming to seize the positions of the council president and governor with the upcoming elections.
