Baghdad: The Iraqi National Security Service (INSS) announced today the successful results of its recent operations at various border crossings and checkpoints over the past 48 hours. These operations have led to the apprehension of 31 individuals and the seizure of numerous illegal goods.
According to Iraqi News Agency, INSS spokesman Arshad al-Hakim reported that these operations resulted in 31 seizure cases at the border crossings and checkpoints. Among those arrested, 29 individuals faced charges related to drugs, forgery, terrorism, and residency violations.
One particularly significant arrest involved an individual wanted under Article 4 of the Counter-Terrorism Law. This individual was apprehended at Baghdad International Airport after being brought into Iraq, following all legal procedures and subsequently referred to the competent legal authorities.
In addition to the arrests, the operations also led to the seizure of 3,103 pharmaceutical items that violated applicable regulations and instructions. Furthermore, 1,450 cartons of food deemed unfit for human consumption were destroyed in accordance with legal procedures.
These operations underscore the INSS’s commitment to maintaining security and enforcing the law at Iraq’s border crossings and checkpoints.
