Maysan: The staff of the Federal Integrity Commission in Maysan Governorate arrested a person who impersonated an officer in one of the state security agencies and engaged in extortion and bribery.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Commission indicated in a statement that a field team formed in the Maysan Investigation Office, after monitoring and surveillance, was able to arrest a person who impersonated an officer in the Anti-Narcotics Directorate. The suspect blackmailed and extorted a citizen, demanding a bribe of ten million dinars, promising to close an investigative file in a case submitted to the Directorate. The statement noted that a sum of money was seized from the accused, representing the first installment of the bribe.
The Commission added that the team prepared a formal arrest report and presented it, along with the accused, to the competent investigating judge. The judge ordered the accused's detention in accordance with the provisions of Resolution (160 of 1983), as amended.
