Nineveh: The Federal Integrity Commission announced the arrest of two veterinarians in Nineveh Governorate on charges of embezzlement and tampering with health certificates granted to livestock and poultry transport companies, in violation of instructions and the law.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Commission explained in a statement that a team composed of the Nineveh Investigation Directorate, implementing the decision of the judge of the investigative court specializing in integrity cases, was able, in two separate operations, to arrest two veterinarians working at a veterinary quarantine at the Mosul Dam point. They were allegedly importing various materials using incomplete inspection certificates that did not include accurate information about the imported materials, with the intent to smuggle them in violation of instructions and the law, mislead inspection points, and pay sums of money. They also embezzled and tampered with health certificates granted to livestock and poultry transport companies in agreement with traders.

The Commission added: “Two formal seizure reports were prepared for the tampered health certificate letters and receipts, and they were presented, along with the defendants, to the judge of the investigative court specializing in integrity cases in Nineveh. The judge decided to detain them in accordance with the provisions of Article 315 of the Penal Code and the provisions of Resolution No. 160 of 1983.
