Integrity Commission carries out 10 operations, including waste and embezzlement of billions of dinars in Maysan

Baghdad The Federal Integrity Commission announced that its staff in Maysan carried out today, Monday, (10) arrest operations, which resulted in the arrest of suspects and documents, and the issuance of arrest warrants and summons orders against other suspects, as a result of their committing financial violations or breaches that caused the waste, damage or embezzlement of public money.

The Commission’s Investigation Department said, according to two statements, that the Commission’s investigation office team in Maysan carried out five seizure operations in the Agricultural Cooperative Bank in the governorate, during which the first five loans to farmers for the purchase of (5) were seized, as it was found that the former Director of the Agricultural Bank of the Maysan branch had spent these loans are within the project of the agricultural initiative in cash without the knowledge and approval of the farmers, and the seizure of loan amounts estimated at (173,4000,000) dinars.

It pointed out that “this was done by organizing fictitious exchange of documents in the name of the farmers by signing a document and disbursing it in violation of banking regulations and instructions that require the presence of the farmer in person and the organization of an original check in the amount of the agricultural draft, and it is sent to the processing company under an approved document.”

The department noted that “the cadres of the Commission’s investigation office in Maysan Governorate were transferred to the Governorate’s Investment Commission and the Directorate of the Municipality of Amarah, where they seized the initial plot of land, whose area is estimated at (373) dunums, and which is allocated for the establishment of an industrial investment city project at a cost of (325,000,000,000) dinars, contrary to the regulations and instructions.”

It indicated that “the violations committed are represented by the municipality, in cooperation with the Maysan Governorate, referring the project to investment, even though the project contains services performed by the governorate and sums were spent on it for the purpose of establishing services and sewers, contrary to the instructions that include the inadmissibility of referring the plot to investment, and the implementation of a paragraph the contract that includes the formation of a committee to collect the fees for services from the investor, as the fees were not collected from the investor, which caused damage to public money.
