Baghdad: The Federal Integrity Commission announced today the execution of an arrest warrant against the former Mayor of Al-Kut, due to violations related to the establishment of the “Hypermarket” center in the city. In a statement, the Commission said that a team from the Wasit Investigation Office successfully carried out the judicial warrant, based on Article (343/3) of the Penal Code, which pertains to negligence in official duties.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the operation was conducted in accordance with a judicial order issued by the Wasit Investigation Court, specialized in integrity cases. The Commission indicated that the arrest came after legal violations were detected in the “Al-Kut Hypermarket” project.

Previously, the Integrity Commission had announced the execution of arrest warrants against ten suspects from the Civil Defense Directorate and the Municipality of Wasit. The list included the Director of Civil Defense, the Head of the Violations Division in Al-Kut Municipality, the former Director of Roads and Bridges, and the Head of the Urban Planning Division, all on charges related to negligence and administrative violations.
