Integrity Commission Finalizes Agreements with Azerbaijani and Russian Prosecution Authorities

Baku:Baghdad The Federal Commission of Integrity announced on Thursday the conclusion of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) and the signing of a cooperation program with the public prosecution authorities of Azerbaijan and Russia, aimed at preventing and combating corruption.

According to Iraqi News Agency, the Federal Commission of Integrity finalized an MoU with the Office of the Prosecutor General of the Republic of Azerbaijan and signed a cooperation program with the Office of the Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation. This occurred during the third meeting of the heads of anti-corruption law enforcement agencies from member states of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), held in Baku.

The MoU with Azerbaijan aims to strengthen bilateral cooperation in preventing and combating corruption, facilitating the exchange of information, expertise, and studies, and enhancing the capabilities of personnel from both sides. The agreement also addresses cooperation in legal assistance requests, asset recovery, and the pursuit of individuals wanted in corruption cases, coordinating efforts with relevant national authorities. Additionally, it focuses on organizing joint training programs, workshops, and awareness-raising activities to promote a culture of integrity and transparency, while refining methods for corruption prevention.

The cooperation program with the Russian Federation’s Office of the Prosecutor General for 2027–2028 builds upon an MoU previously concluded in 2023. This program includes meetings and seminars on mechanisms for preventing and detecting corruption, conducting financial investigations, and tracing, seizing, and recovering assets from corruption-related offenses. Training for the Authority’s staff will involve the exchange of specialized publications and periodic meetings by a joint working group to enhance coordination and expertise sharing between the two sides.
