The federal integrity commission: announced today the issuance of a seven-year prison sentence against Member of Parliament Bahaa al-Din Nour Muhammad Hussein for illicit enrichment, and ordered him to return more than 40 billion dinars, representing the value of the illicit gains and an equivalent fine.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Commission indicated that the Central Anti-Corruption Criminal Court issued the seven-year prison sentence against the convicted MP, Bahaa al-Din Nour Muhammad Hussein, based on the provisions of Article (19/Second) of the Integrity and Illicit Enrichment Commission Law No. (30 of 2011), as amended.

The statement added that the court also ordered the convicted individual to return the value of the illicit gains, amounting to five billion, eight hundred and eighty-seven million dinars and ten million, nine hundred and ninety thousand US dollars, in addition to imposing a fine equivalent to the value of the illicit gains, in accordance with the provisions of Article (19/Fourth) of the Commission’s law.

The Authority added that the court issued another ruling of three years’ imprisonment for the convicted individual, in accordance with Article (19/Fifth) of the Authority’s law, for the crime of concealing information in his financial disclosure form. The court decided to apply the more severe penalty and upheld the seizure of his movable and immovable assets.
