Integrity Commission Secures 332 Million Dinar Recovery from Jordan

Amman: The Integrity Commission announced today, Sunday, that it won a decision to recover 332 million dinars from the fugitive convict, the former director of the Iraqi Stock Exchange and Documents Commission.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Commission stated that serious coordination and cooperation with the competent authorities in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan led to the approval of the recovery of funds smuggled illegally into the Kingdom. These funds have been transferred to the Iraqi state treasury. The convict, affiliated with the Ministry of Finance, had seized these funds.

The Commission acknowledged the cooperation efforts of the Jordanian authorities, who complied with the legal assistance request sent by the Recovery Department of the Iraqi Integrity Commission. This request aimed to seize the convict’s assets, following a decision by the Central Criminal Court. The convict received a 15-year imprisonment sentence under Article 316 of the Iraqi Penal Code No. 111 of 1969, as amended, and was obligated to repay 332,176,290 Iraqi dinars, according to the decision of the Baghdad/Karkh Federal Court of Appeal.

The Commission further noted that follow-up operations resulted in a lawsuit in Jordanian courts, with a final decision issued by the Amman Court of First Instance in favor of Iraq. This ruling gave the Karada Court of First Instance’s decision the executive formula as a Jordanian court ruling. The Jordanian authorities have agreed to recover the seized funds and are proceeding with returning the funds to Iraq by opening an executive file to implement the recovery according to Jordanian laws.
