Kirkuk: The Federal Integrity Commission has announced a court decision to sentence a private bank branch manager in Kirkuk to 15 years in prison in absentia for embezzlement.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Kirkuk Criminal Court / Second Chamber delivered the sentence to the fugitive defendant, Namir Khalil Muhammad Ali Saeed Al-Dawudi, who was found guilty of embezzling 234,945,000 Iraqi dinars. The embezzlement occurred over January and February 2022 and involved tuition fees collected from university students.

The court’s decision was based on evidence that included statements from the department’s legal representative, complainants, and conclusions from the administrative investigation. The court determined these were sufficient to convict Al-Dawudi under Article 315, Part Two, of the Penal Code. Consequently, the court sentenced him to 15 years in prison.

In addition to the prison sentence, the ruling included issuing an arrest warrant against Al-Dawudi, imposing a travel ban, and confirming the seizure of his movable and immovable assets.
