Baghdad: The Federal Integrity Commission announced the arrest of members of a committee in the Diwaniyah Municipality Directorate, on the grounds that they deliberately caused damage to the funds and interests of the entity in which they work.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the commission stated in its statement regarding the operation, which was carried out according to a judicial warrant, that the team formed in the Diwaniyah Investigation Office, which went to the municipality directorate, arrested four of its employees. These employees include the head and members of the committee responsible for reviewing land plot applications for lawyers, a committee led by the head of the legal department in the municipality. The commission indicated that the accused had agreed to proceed with the procedures for transferring ownership of the land plots, despite suspicions of manipulation and forgery.

The commission added that the team prepared a formal arrest report and presented it, along with the accused, before the judge of the Diwaniyah Investigation Court, which specializes in integrity cases. The judge ordered their detention based on the provisions of Article (340) of the Penal Code.
