Integrity seizes violations and tampering with load weights at Al-Mandhariyeh border port

– The Commission for Public Integrity announced that it had uncovered violations and cases of fraud that led to a waste of public money, committed by a number of employees of the Mundhiriya border crossing in Diyala Governorate.

It stated in a statement: The investigation and audit work carried out by the staff of the Diyala Investigation Office, which moved to the Munthiriya border crossing, revealed financial irregularities and manipulation by employees at the port, which led to a great waste of public money.

It added that the violations included the smuggling of various materials, the issuance of customs exemption licenses in violation of the law, as well as the manipulation of removing the labels that contain the specifications of the imported materials to obtain a tax exemption.

It stressed that among the violations that were seized were the exit of loaded cars without paying the amount of the customs fee, and the unloading of excess load in the yards near the port, in addition to the fact that specialized employees at the port completed the customs permit by registering a weight less than the actual weight to reduce the cost of the fees imposed on it, pointing out that the investigations led to the seizure of (9) drivers with their vehicles, after re-weighing their loads, and confirming this according to fundamental records.

It indicated that a seizure report was organized with the exhibits, and it was presented, along with the nine defendants, to the judge of the investigative court specialized in integrity issues in Baquba; Who decided to arrest them in accordance with the provisions of Article (240) of the Penal Code
