BAGHDAD: In a coordinated operation spanning three governorates, the Intelligence and Security Directorate successfully apprehended four individuals wanted on charges of drug trafficking and kidnapping. The arrests were executed based on judicial warrants and involved suspects actively engaged in criminal activities in Baghdad, Nineveh, and Diwaniyah.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, a statement from the Directorate highlighted the efficiency of the intelligence efforts that led to the capture of three drug dealers and promoters caught in the act in Baghdad and Nineveh. Additionally, an individual accused of kidnapping was apprehended in Diwaniyah. All suspects were detained under the authority of judicial warrants, issued in alignment with Articles 28 (Drugs) and 421 (Kidnapping) of the penal code. Following their arrest, the suspects were handed over to the appropriate legal authorities for further processing.

The operations underscore the Directorate’s commitment to curtailing illegal activities
and ensuring the safety and security of the public across multiple regions. The successful arrests also demonstrate the effectiveness of the intelligence-led policing strategies currently implemented by the Directorate to combat crime and maintain law and order.
