Damascus: The National Intelligence Service announced today, Tuesday, the dismantling of an international drug network inside Syrian territory. In a significant operation that underscores regional cooperation, authorities successfully disrupted a major illicit drug operation.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Service revealed that the operation was the result of precise intelligence and continuous tracking across multiple regional countries. Through a proactive and well-coordinated effort, the National Intelligence Service, in collaboration with Syria’s competent security authorities, managed to apprehend the members of the network.
The statement highlighted that the network comprised five individuals who were planning to smuggle substantial quantities of Captagon pills into Iraq via Syria. The operation culminated in the seizure of over 200,000 pills, marking a significant blow to the drug trafficking infrastructure in the region.
