Karbala: Intensive preparations are underway to ensure the success of the Arbaeen pilgrimage, with the Interior Minister continuing his meetings in Karbala to secure the million-person visit. Minister of Interior and Head of the Supreme Security Committee for Mass Pilgrimages, Abdul Amir Al-Shammari, chaired a comprehensive meeting at the Karbala Operations Command headquarters to review both security and service plans for the upcoming Arbaeen pilgrimage of Imam Hussein.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Al-Shammari received detailed briefings from security and service officials, who outlined the preparations of each governorate involved in facilitating and securing the pilgrimage. These preparations are crucial whether the governorates serve as transit points or as the final destination.

The minister highlighted the importance of reinforcing security units and enhancing intelligence efforts. He emphasized the meticulous implementation of all aspects of the organizational plan, covering everything from border crossings, both land and air, to the various provinces along the route to Karbala. Ensuring smooth traffic flow, installing radar systems, and deploying traffic police and civil defense units along major roads and within cities, particularly in the old city of Karbala, were also prioritized.

Al-Shammari stressed the need for advanced surveillance camera systems to ensure a pilgrimage free from security or traffic incidents. He called for decisive action against rumors and fabricated news circulated by malicious social media pages, which exploit events by promoting outdated video clips as current.

He expressed his full support for all governorates participating in the pilgrimage preparations and stressed the need for strong coordination among security and service agencies. This coordination aims to reflect the significance and sanctity of the occasion, which draws millions of pilgrims from Iraq and beyond.

The meeting was attended by the Head of the Service Committee for Mass Pilgrimages, the Governor of Karbala, and the commanders of Karbala Operations and Police. Deputy governors from Najaf, Wasit, Diwaniyah, Anbar, Babil, and Karbala were also present.
