Interior Minister Highlights Role of Intelligence in Security Operations


Baghdad: Minister of Interior Abdul Amir Al-Shammari emphasized that intelligence efforts constitute a pivotal factor in carrying out numerous security tasks. A statement from the ministry said that Al-Shammari visited the Federal Intelligence and Investigations Institute on Tuesday morning to review the progress of training programs, including a promotion course for officers.



According to National Iraqi News Agency, during the visit, the minister instructed the need to introduce substantial changes to the structure of these courses in line with the rapid developments in intelligence work, particularly through the use of modern technologies and artificial intelligence.



Al-Shammari stressed that practical experience has proven intelligence work to be the cornerstone in addressing security challenges, citing the battles against the ISIS terrorist organization as evidence of how intelligence operations reversed the balance of power and paved the way to victory.



The minister also underlined the importance of building a well-rounded character for intelligence officers and enhancing their capabilities to cope with diverse circumstances, while reinforcing their general knowledge and establishing a solid, reliable information base.



He concluded by stressing that intelligence personnel must demonstrate the highest level of professionalism in both their work and conduct, reflecting the vital role they play within the Ministry of Interior.
