Maysan: Interior Minister Abdul Amir al-Shammari on Monday ordered a comprehensive overhaul of the security plan in Maysan Governorate to address weaknesses and strengthen security capabilities.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, al-Shammari chaired an extensive meeting with all military, security, and intelligence leaders operating in the governorate to review the security situation on the ground and take decisive measures to enhance stability.

The statement added that the minister’s three-day presence in the governorate allowed him to closely observe the efforts of the security forces, praising the strong support from Maysan residents who demand the enforcement of law and the elimination of chaos.

Al-Shammari directed a full revision of the security plan, emphasizing the need to reassess the performance of officers and personnel, intensify field and intelligence monitoring, optimally allocate human resources, activate the role of community policing, and strengthen the principle of localized security to meet citizens’ expectations.

The minister confirmed that intensive security campaigns over the past two days have resulted in the arrest of more than 300 suspects and wanted individuals, stressing that operations will continue until full security and stability are restored throughout the governorate.

Al-Shammari called on those wanted by the judiciary to surrender voluntarily, warning that security forces will not tolerate lawbreakers and that no suspect will be allowed to evade justice.
