London: Interior Minister Abdul Amir Al-Shammari and his Bulgarian counterpart, Daniel Mitov, have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening joint efforts to control borders and combat transnational criminal networks.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the meeting took place on the sidelines of a summit in London and focused on enhancing security cooperation between Iraq and Bulgaria. The ministers discussed the importance of tackling common challenges, particularly in the realms of organized crime, human trafficking, and migrant smuggling.

The statement from the Interior Minister’s media office highlighted the emphasis on exchanging information and expertise between the two countries’ relevant security agencies. Both ministers underscored the need to fortify joint coordination mechanisms to effectively manage borders and curb transnational crime networks. Discussions also covered the development of technical and training cooperation, aimed at boosting the efficiency and capabilities of security agencies in both countries.

Interior Minister Al-Shammari reiterated Iraq’s dedication to dismantling human trafficking and migrant smuggling networks. He also emphasized Iraq’s intent to work with international partners to bolster regional and global security efforts.

Bulgarian Interior Minister Daniel Mitov expressed Bulgaria’s readiness to support Iraqi initiatives by providing security expertise and advanced technologies, which are crucial for achieving security and stability in the region.
