Interior Ministry Collaborates with Syria to Dismantle Major Drug Trafficking Network


Baghdad: The Ministry of Interior announced the dismantling of an international drug trafficking network in cooperation with the Syrian side.



According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Ministry stated in a press release that the operation was part of international security cooperation efforts to combat transnational crimes. The General Directorate of Narcotics and Psychotropic Substances Affairs, in collaboration with the Anti-Narcotics Directorate in Syria, conducted a significant security operation inside Syrian territory. This operation led to the arrest of two international drug traffickers and the seizure of 300,000 pills, which are equivalent to 50 kg of narcotics.



The Ministry elaborated that the successful operation was executed after a team from the Directorate of Narcotics and Psychotropic Substances Affairs crossed into Syria. The operation was hailed as a complete success.
