Baghdad: The Ministry of Interior announced the execution of more than 44,000 security duties this year. Major General Miqdad Miri, Head of the Department of Relations and Media at the Ministry of Interior, stated in a press release that the Ministry’s Police Affairs Agency has carried out comprehensive security, service, and humanitarian duties through its formations and affiliated units in Baghdad and the provinces since the beginning of this year.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Major General Miri added that the local police carried out more than 44,000 security duties, arrested more than 766 individuals for discharging firearms, and confiscated more than 4,000 unlicensed weapons. They also handled more than 19,000 cases through the Family and Child Protection Directorate, secured more than 3,000 events and matches in stadiums, and removed more than 8,000 encroachments on archaeological sites.

He continued, “On the administrative and technical level, the agency issued more than 18,000 internal and 9,000 external certificates of good conduct, in addition to conducting more than 3,000 fingerprint comparisons and carrying out more than 2,000 fingerprinting operations. All its departments are committed to enhancing security and providing the best services to citizens.”
