Baghdad: The Ministry of Interior has reported a notable rise in rumors and psychological operations intended to instill fear and anxiety among the populace. This trend has emerged alongside the security victories secured by the country's forces across multiple sectors.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Major General Miqdad Miri, who leads the Department of Relations and Media at the Ministry of Interior, highlighted that the perpetrators of these campaigns are utilizing fabricated news, outdated videos, and misleading information disseminated via social media platforms. Their objective is to destabilize public security and create confusion among the public.

Miri asserted that such efforts are unlikely to succeed due to the increasing awareness among citizens and the prompt reactions from security and media institutions to the circulating content. He appealed to citizens to disregard rumors and instead seek information from official Ministry of Interior sources. He stressed that sharing unverified news assists those spreading it, whereas the truth is conveyed solely through official state channels.

The ministry further stated, "We continue to monitor these campaigns and will take legal action against anyone proven to be involved in publishing or promoting false news that threatens security and stability."
