Interior Ministry Reports Fatal Incident in Gas Pipeline Fire


Baghdad: An announcement from the Ministry of Interior on Wednesday detailed a tragic incident involving the martyrdom of an Energy Police Directorate member and injuries to three others following a fire at the Akarkouf gas pipeline. The fire, which was attributed to a technical malfunction, occurred in the valve of the pipeline.



According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Ministry’s statement expressed deep sorrow over the loss of an officer from the Third Regiment – Third Brigade of the Energy Police Directorate. This officer was performing his duty when the fire erupted, and the incident fell within the operational area of the Fourth Company – Fourth Regiment of the Energy Police.



The Ministry further reported that the fire caused injuries to three other officers, two of whom suffered minor burns. Additionally, the blaze resulted in the destruction of several military and civilian vehicles.



In its statement, the Ministry of Interior extended heartfelt condolences to the family of the deceased officer, while also praying for the injured officers’ swift recovery. The Ministry emphasized its commitment to the safety and protection of its personnel as they continue to fulfill their national duties.
