Interior Ministry Reports Smooth Ashura Pilgrimage With No Security Breaches

Baghdad: The Ministry of Interior confirmed on Sunday that no security breaches have been recorded so far during the Ashura pilgrimage, noting that the organized plan is proceeding according to what was planned.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the ministry stated, “So far, we have not recorded any significant security breaches during the Ashura pilgrimage. This pilgrimage is one of the smoothest and organized pilgrimages compared to previous years, both in terms of visitor traffic and security and service procedures.”

The ministry further added that “the number of traffic accidents and fires recorded is the lowest to date, thanks to the great efforts made by all ministry formations and the high level of coordination between security and service agencies.”

The statement indicated that “the security and service plan for the pilgrimage is still proceeding according to plan, with complete discipline and flexibility, under the direct supervision of the Minister of Interior, and with the active field participation of all commanders and personnel.”
