The ministry of interior announced on wednesday the arrest of wanted persons and the seizure of unlicensed weapons in the rusafa side of baghdad. the ministry’s official spokesperson: ‘As part of the continuous follow-up and supervision by the Senior Deputy Minister of Interior, and his emphasis on enhancing security performance and enforcing the rule of law, the Baghdad Rusafa Police Command carried out a security operation and a pre-emptive inspection campaign in the Al-Naairiya area, with the participation of a number of security, intelligence and supporting formations.’

According to Iraqi News Agency, the campaign targeted the pursuit of wanted persons and the detection of violations and unlicensed weapons. It resulted in the arrest of wanted persons under Articles (28) of the Narcotics Law and (456) of the Penal Code, as well as eight persons violating residency requirements. A warehouse selling alcoholic beverages in violation of regulations was also seized, and four individuals were arrested in possession of unlicensed weapons. In addition, two Kalashnikov rifles and two pistols were seized.

Al-Hassoun explained that the arrested individuals were remanded in custody pending the necessary legal procedures, commending the efforts of the participating security formations in carrying out the operation.
