Baghdad: The Head of the International Commission on Irrigation and Drainage, Marco Arceri, has emphasized the commission's commitment to collaborating with both local and international entities to support Iraq in securing its water resources. During the Fifth Baghdad International Water Conference, Arceri, who also serves as the Secretary of the Italian National Commission on Irrigation and Drainage, highlighted the challenges posed by water issues on Iraq's economy and proposed the integration of modern technology as a solution.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Arceri expressed optimism about Baghdad's potential to become a leading food provider in the region, despite the current water scarcity issues affecting the nation. He acknowledged the various initiatives undertaken by the Iraqi government to sustain food and water security, stressing the importance of achieving a balance and ensuring sustainable development.

Arceri further elaborated on the collaborative efforts between the International Commission on Irrigation and Drainage and other bodies to aid Iraq in its quest for water security. He detailed the implementation of several programs designed to create a strategic roadmap based on accumulated experience, which aims to meet the country's goals in this sector.
