New York: Iran’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Amir Saeed Iravani, has lodged a formal complaint with the Security Council, accusing Rafael Grossi, the Director-General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), of “blatantly violating” the principle of functional neutrality.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Iran’s complaint highlights Grossi’s statements made just before the recent Israeli aggression against Iran, which Tehran claims contradict his legal duties under the IAEA’s statute. The complaint specifically points to Grossi’s failure to condemn the attack on Iran’s nuclear facilities, which are protected under IAEA safeguards.

Iravani expressed “deep concern” over what he perceives as Grossi’s neglect in addressing Israel’s responsibility, despite Israel publicly admitting to the attack.
