Qatar: Iran and Oman negotiations on the Strait of Hormuz are at an advanced stage: Qatari Foreign Ministry spokesman Majid al-Ansari confirmed that talks between Oman and Iran regarding the future of the Strait of Hormuz have reached an advanced stage, describing the negotiations as being at a pivotal juncture.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, at a press conference, al-Ansari expressed Qatar’s full support for all efforts to de-escalate tensions in the region, emphasizing that Doha, as a mediator, seeks to reopen the strait as soon as possible.

The spokesman stressed that Qatar supports any formula that guarantees the security of the Strait of Hormuz and freedom of navigation within it, and prevents it from becoming a tool for political pressure. He noted that regional security is a collective responsibility requiring joint regional coordination, with reliance on the international community to exert pressure on Israel to implement the Gaza agreement, which is essential for the overall stability of the region.

The spokesperson also explained that Qatar received positive responses from both Oman and Iran, reflecting progress in the negotiating position. He emphasized that negotiations are ongoing and that Doha continues its efforts, in coordination with the United States and its regional partners, to ensure the implementation of the Gaza agreement and achieve lasting stability in the region, within a comprehensive vision aimed at strengthening regional security and peace.
