Khuzestan: The police in Iran’s Khuzestan Province announced on Friday the arrest of a person accused of working as an “agent for the Zionist entity” in the city of Masjid Soleiman, along with four other individuals they said were supporters of the entity.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the police stated, in a statement carried by Iranian media, that “the agent was receiving sums of money from entities affiliated with the Zionist entity in exchange for carrying out missions aimed at destabilizing internal security,” adding that “the missions included spreading rumors via cyberspace, photographing sensitive sites inside the country, and inciting riots.”

Iranian security authorities confirmed that the arrest came after careful intelligence monitoring, noting that the accused are currently under investigation to uncover the network’s dimensions and the parties behind it.

Iranian authorities have not yet released additional details about the identities of those arrested or the locations where the photographs were taken. This operation is the latest in a series of security measures targeting what Tehran says are foreign infiltration attempts to destabilize the country.
