Iran Denies S-400 Purchase and Clarifies Moscow’s Stance on Israeli Attack

Moscow: Iranian Ambassador to Russia Kazem Jalali denied on Monday any request from Tehran to purchase the S-400 missile system from Moscow, stressing that Russia was unaware of the Israeli attack on Iran and did not ask Tehran to halt uranium enrichment. During a session of the National Security and Foreign Policy Committee of the Iranian Parliament, he indicated that “the Iranian president is serious about developing relations with Russia and is personally following up on some issues, adding that relations between Tehran and Moscow are currently at a very good level.”

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Jalali explained that “Russia’s position on the Iranian nuclear issue did not include any call to halt uranium enrichment, and that Moscow supported the Islamic Republic of Iran’s position on this matter.” The Iranian ambassador concluded his remarks by emphasizing the Iranian president’s seriousness in developing relations with Russia and his personal follow-up on some strategic issues.
