Baghdad: Iranian local media reported that Tehran has detained two foreign ships involved in smuggling Iranian fuel in the Gulf waters. Fars News Agency reported that the Revolutionary Guards Navy detained two foreign oil tankers involved in fuel smuggling, explaining that they were flying the Tanzanian flag.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the two ships “were transporting 1.5 million liters of smuggled diesel fuel.” The Agency identified the two tankers as the Sea Ranger and the Salama. The Agency indicated that the two ships had a total of 25 foreign crew members, without providing further details about their fate.

It reported that the two detained ships were transferred to the port of Bushehr (southwest) for legal action. Iranian forces regularly announce the seizure of ships involved in fuel smuggling in the Arabian Gulf.
