Iran Enters Diplomatic Talks with US in Oman with Firm Stance on Rights

Muscat: Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi affirmed that his country is entering negotiations with the United States in the Sultanate of Oman “with open eyes,” firmly adhering to its rights. Araqchi emphasized that Iran is approaching the diplomatic discussions with vigilance and a strong commitment to its entitlements, reflecting on past events without losing sight of its objectives.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Araqchi expressed Iran’s intention to engage in talks with good faith while maintaining an unwavering stance on its rights. He highlighted the importance of respecting commitments, ensuring equality of status, and fostering mutual respect. Araqchi underscored that mutual interests are not just slogans, but essential components for a sustainable agreement.

The Iranian delegation, led by Deputy Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi, comprises high-ranking officials including Deputy Foreign Minister for Political Affairs Majid Takht-Ravanchi, Deputy Foreign Minister for Legal and International Affairs Kazem Gharibabadi, Deputy Foreign Minister for Economic Diplomacy Hamid Ghanbari, and Ministry Spokesman Esmail Baghaei. Their focus is set exclusively on nuclear issues, dismissing any media speculation regarding other potential topics.

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio remarked that for the talks to be “meaningful,” they must address Iran’s ballistic missile program. Prior to the talks, the White House indicated that US President Donald Trump is keenly awaiting the outcomes to assess the possibility of reaching an agreement with Tehran. The administration warned that President Trump has various options on the table, beyond diplomacy, to address the situation.
