Baghdad: Iranian authorities executed a man convicted of spying for the Israeli Mossad, recruiting agents, and gathering information on sensitive sites in the country.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the man was arrested in Tehran in 2020 after suspicious activity. He had been in contact with Mossad agents during his frequent visits to Europe, particularly Germany.

He had previously undergone advanced security training by the Israeli agency to recruit sources and gather secret information. Investigations revealed that the accused had transferred sensitive data related to Iranian strategic sites to a Mossad officer via encrypted communication channels. His meetings with Israeli intelligence agents in Brussels, including a visit to the Israeli Embassy there, were also documented.

After a trial that completed all its legal stages, a court sentenced him to death. The sentence was carried out by hanging after the Supreme Court upheld the sentence.
