Baghdad: Iran has announced the suspension of its agreements with the United States, citing Washington's failure to honor its commitments. Iranian television reported that Foreign Ministry spokesman Ismail Baghaei stated that the entire agreement process is now on hold due to the United States' inability to meet its obligations and its continued actions against Iran.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, Baghaei highlighted that Article 5 of the Memorandum of Understanding between Iran and the United States prohibits Washington from establishing an independent, parallel waterway in the Strait of Hormuz. He attributed the restrictive measures taken by Tehran in the Strait of Hormuz to those he termed "aggressors."
Baghaei reiterated Iran's commitment to its pledges, provided that the United States fulfills its obligations, emphasizing that fulfillment of commitments cannot be expected unilaterally. The spokesman affirmed that Iran did not initiate the violation of its commitments and accused the United States of breaching the agreement "from the very beginning."
