Geneva: Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi announced that his country is prepared to pursue a diplomatic solution once the current aggression against Iran ceases. Speaking in Geneva after a meeting with representatives from three European countries (E3), Araqchi emphasized the “serious” nature of their discussions.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Araqchi expressed Iran’s “deep concern” over the Israeli attacks on Iranian territory. He stressed that Iran intends to continue exercising its legitimate right to self-defense against Israel as long as the hostilities persist. Araqchi criticized the lack of action from the three European countries and the broader European Union in condemning the Israeli attacks. He stated that Iran is open to reconsidering its stance once the aggression ends and those responsible are held accountable for their actions.

The Iranian Foreign Minister also conveyed his willingness to meet with the European countries again, reiterating that Iran’s nuclear program is intended solely for “peaceful” purposes. In a speech at the UN Security Council in Geneva, Araqchi condemned the Israeli attack as a “betrayal” of the diplomatic efforts initiated in April with the United States to reach a nuclear agreement.

Subsequent to his address, Araqchi held discussions with his counterparts from Britain, France, and Germany, as well as EU foreign policy chief Kaya Kallas. The meetings took place against the backdrop of an ongoing conflict, marked by a week of missile exchanges between Iran and Israel following an unprecedented Israeli attack on June 13.
