Iran Warns of Immediate Response to Any US Action, Stresses Reciprocity in Agreements

Baghdad: The Iranian Foreign Ministry has issued a stern warning, stating that “any American action will not go unanswered,” as tensions between the United States and Iran continue to rise. The ministry emphasized that Iranian forces are prepared to respond firmly and immediately to any perceived aggression.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson highlighted the country’s commitment to fulfilling its obligations under the Memorandum of Understanding, stressing that this commitment is contingent upon the other party’s adherence to their commitments. The spokesperson underscored the importance of the “a step for a step” principle in navigating the current phase of their relationship.

The spokesperson further warned that any violation of the agreement or misinterpretation of its terms could hamper the de-escalation process and ongoing negotiations. He emphasized that Tehran is closely monitoring the implementation of the agreed-upon terms, ensuring that mutual commitments are upheld.

Despite the heightened tensions, the spokesperson noted that communication channels with Washington remain open, although they are limited to exchanges between the Iranian Foreign Ministry and certain American political institutions. He clarified that no direct talks are currently scheduled at any level.

These statements emerge in a backdrop of escalating political and security tensions between the United States and Iran, with Tehran reaffirming its dedication to existing agreements and cautioning against any American actions that might be perceived as breaches of commitments.
