Iranian Consul in Basra Emphasizes Leveraging Shared Interests with Iraq for Development

Baghdad: The Iranian Consul in Basra Governorate, Mustafa Al-Tarfi, affirmed on Thursday that the relationship with Iraq is grounded in deep-rooted historical commonalities that have translated into tangible realities, noting his efforts to leverage these shared ties to achieve development and prosperity.

According to Iraqi News Agency, the Iranian Consul in Basra Governorate, Mustafa Al-Tarfi, stated that “relations between Iraq and Iran are based on deep-rooted and multifaceted shared ties,” noting that “these shared bonds have not been limited to mere words but have been translated into reality on the ground.”

He further noted that “both countries possess great potential, and we seek to transform this potential into real opportunities that serve both peoples and achieve development and prosperity,” expressing his hope that “this presence in Basra Governorate will serve as a voice of friendship and brotherhood, and a link between the two peoples.”
