New York: The Iranian representative to the Security Council has asserted that the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) cannot remain silent while Iranian facilities face attacks. The representative highlighted recent assaults attributed to Israel, which have reportedly targeted medical facilities in Iran, describing these actions as flagrant violations of international law.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Iranian envoy reported that the attacks have resulted in the deaths of hundreds of civilians and left thousands wounded. The assaults have specifically impacted medical personnel, with doctors and humanitarian workers among the victims in strikes that have targeted five hospitals to date.
The representative warned that if the nuclear non-proliferation system collapses, the Security Council would share responsibility alongside what was termed the Israeli regime. Furthermore, the Iranian envoy underscored the existence of mounting evidence indicating direct involvement from Washington in the conflict.
He elaborated on the issue by noting that public threats from Washington to strike Iran’s nuclear facilities are seen as a blatant violation of the United Nations Charter. The representative also criticized what he described as misleading narratives from Israel and its Western allies, arguing that these no longer suffice to justify the alleged crimes.
