Tehran: The Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Tuesday strongly criticized recent remarks by U.S. President Donald Trump regarding his desire for peace with Tehran, describing them as 'hollow claims' that contradict what it called the 'U.S.-Israeli military aggression' against Iranian territory.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the ministry issued a statement saying, 'It is illogical for a party to attack residential areas and nuclear facilities in the midst of political negotiations, causing the death of more than a thousand people, and then speak of peace and friendship.'

The statement further affirmed that 'the Iranian people are open to dialogue and engagement with the international community, but will firmly defend their supreme national interests against any external aggression.'

The Foreign Ministry criticized what it described as 'repeated false allegations about Iran's peaceful nuclear program,' arguing that such claims cannot justify the joint actions by the American and Israeli regimes. It also condemned what it called the complicity in 'genocide and incitement to war' by the Israeli occupation in Palestinian territories.

The statement concluded by emphasizing that 'U.S. interventionist policies and its continued support for Israel are the main factors behind the lack of security and stability in the Middle East.'
