Tehran: The Iranian Foreign Ministry announced on Monday its pledge of allegiance to Mojtaba Khamenei, who was chosen to assume the position of Supreme Leader following the assassination of his father, Ali Khamenei, in an Israeli airstrike.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, at the beginning of a press conference on Monday, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Ismail Baghaei read an official statement from the ministry congratulating Mr. Mojtaba Hosseini Khamenei on his election as the third Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution in Iran.
The ministry, on its own behalf and on behalf of all Iranian diplomats at home and abroad, announced their pledge of allegiance to the third Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution.
The statement affirmed the renewal of the covenant with the Supreme Leader and the Iranian people to "continue the necessary efforts to maximize Iran's national interests and achieve the lofty goals of the foreign policy of the Islamic Republic of Iran."
