Iranian Military Official Threatens US-British Base in Indian Ocean

London: An Iranian military official has declared that Iranian forces would target a joint US-British military base in the Indian Ocean, 3,800 kilometers from Iran, if the country were to be attacked by the United States.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the statement was made to The Telegraph following the deployment of US long-range bombers to the strategic airbase. In light of this military movement, a senior Iranian official emphasized that there would be no distinction between British and American forces if Iran were attacked from any base in the region or within the range of Iranian missiles.

The Iranian official was further quoted by the newspaper, stating, “When the time comes, it won’t matter whether you are an American, British, or Turkish soldier-you will be a target if the Americans use your base.” However, it’s noteworthy that the Diego Garcia base, located in the Indian Ocean, lies beyond the maximum range of Iran’s ballistic missiles, which is approximately 2,000 kilometers.
