Iranian President Discusses Regional Stability with Iraqi Foreign Minister


Tehran: Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian received Iraqi Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein in Tehran on Sunday. A statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs indicated that at the beginning of the meeting, Fuad Hussein conveyed the greetings of Iraqi President Dr. Abdul Latif Rashid and Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani to the Iranian President.



According to National Iraqi News Agency, President Pezeshkian reviewed the current situation in the Islamic Republic of Iran, noting the deep-rooted and historical fraternal relations between Iraq and Iran. He emphasized the importance of strengthening stability in the region, given its direct impact on regional security and development.



In turn, Fuad Hussein affirmed that regional security is interconnected and indivisible, stressing the necessity of joint efforts to create a stable environment that contributes to achieving sustainable development for the peoples of the region. He also reviewed developments in the ongoing political process in Iraq, particularly the nearing completion of constitutional requirements with the election of a new president and the formation of a new government.



The Minister noted that the remaining challenges and threats require different approaches based on dialogue and addressing the root causes.
