Tehran: The Commander of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard’s naval forces, Admiral Alireza Tangsiri, has declared that the closure of the Strait of Hormuz remains a viable course of action should Tehran find its rights compromised.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Tangsiri, in a conversation with Al-Mayadeen TV, articulated that the authority to close the Strait resides with the supreme leadership, yet affirmed the naval forces’ preparedness to enforce such a measure if Iran’s interests are threatened. He underscored that while Iran does not seek conflict, it stands ready to robustly counter any form of aggression.

The admiral also highlighted concerns over foreign military influences in the Gulf, asserting the region as belonging to Iran and its neighboring states. Tangsiri expressed willingness for Iran to engage in joint military exercises with countries like Iraq, Kuwait, and Bahrain, aiming to bolster regional cooperation.

In terms of defense, Tangsiri disclosed enhancements on Iran’s three islands, which have been fortified with advanced missile systems and naval assets, capable of striking adversary bases if necessary. This development underscores Iran’s strategic military positioning amidst ongoing regional tensions.
