Tehran: The Iranian Revolutionary Guard has announced a significant escalation in its military operations, declaring that the third wave has targeted several strategic enemy assets, including weapons depots and parts of ships and aircraft, as well as an MQ-9 drone launch site situated in Kuwait and Bahrain.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Iranian Revolutionary Guard detailed in a statement that this latest phase, termed Operation Nasr 2 and codenamed Mubarak or Zain al-Abidin (peace be upon him), involved a coordinated missile and drone assault by the naval and air forces. The operation successfully destroyed various weapons stockpiles and damaged enemy infrastructure at the Sheikh Isa base in Bahrain.
The statement further elaborated that the Iranian forces attacked the MQ-9 drone landing pad at Ali al-Salem Air Base in Kuwait. This was described as a retaliatory measure following earlier attacks by the US military, which the Revolutionary Guard condemned as acts of aggression against their coastal sites.
The Iranian Revolutionary Guard emphasized that they would continue to respond to what they termed as US military provocations, warning of severe repercussions should such attacks persist. The statement underscored the potential for significant disruption to oil and gas exports from the region, particularly through the strategic Strait of Hormuz, if hostilities continue.
