Iranian Supreme Leader Recommends Government to Stockpile Essential Supplies in Anticipation of “Potential Risks”

Tehran: Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei issued a direct recommendation to the Iranian government to stockpile essential supplies, warning of potential unpredictable risks.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, during a meeting with the Iranian government, Khamenei stressed the importance of preparedness, saying: “We recommend the provision and storage of essential supplies due to potential unpredictable risks.” He added that there is significant potential for achieving consensus through harmony among various institutions.

The Supreme Leader’s statements come at a time of mounting international pressure on Iran, particularly from the United States and Western countries, amid security tensions in the region and growing concerns about the repercussions of Iran’s recent war against Israel. Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian stated a few days ago that “the goal of pressure from America and Western countries is to make Iran a weak, demilitarized state,” stressing that Iran will respond with firmness and deterrent force to any aggression.

Observers believe that the Supreme Leader’s warning to stockpile essential supplies is understood as a readiness to confront emergency scenarios, whether security, military, or economic, especially in light of ongoing sanctions, tense relations with the West, and the continuing decline in foreign currency reserves. Observers also suggest that this recommendation may reflect fears of potential internal unrest due to the economic situation or regional crises.
