Tehran: Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei issued orders on Monday appointing several high-ranking military commanders in the country.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, in accordance with the rulings, the Supreme Leader of Iran, Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei, issued orders appointing several high-ranking military commanders in the country. Major General Ali Abdollahi was appointed Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces, while Brigadier General Kioumars Heidari was appointed Deputy Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces.

Brigadier General Ahmad Vahidi assumed command of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) after being promoted to the rank of Major General, while Major General Mostafa Izadi assumed the position of Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the IRGC. Admiral Ali Ozmaei assumed command of the IRGC Navy, while Hossein Taeb was appointed head of the Basij (Mobilization of the Oppressed) Organization.

Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei emphasized that the continuous and comprehensive development of military capabilities aims to strengthen deterrence and readiness for offensive operations against the enemy. He highlighted the importance of developing comprehensive defensive and security capabilities and readiness of the armed forces and the Basij.

Ayatollah Khamenei added that the ability to respond effectively to any level of military, hybrid, and cognitive threats must be ensured, stressing the need for the integration of the General Staff and the Khatam al-Anbiya Headquarters based on the directives of the late Supreme Leader.
