Baghdad:Prime Minister Ali Faleh Al-Zaidi announced that Iraq’s oil production is set to reach 10 million barrels per day by 2031.
According to the National Iraqi News Agency, Al-Zaidi made this statement while addressing tribal sheikhs and notables, emphasizing the need for foreign investment and the withdrawal of foreign forces to reform Iraq’s economy. He acknowledged the tribes’ role in maintaining order and expressed zero tolerance for attempts to undermine the state.
Al-Zaidi highlighted the government’s efforts to prevent international isolation and foster global partnerships. He noted the importance of establishing a strong economic identity through a program-based budget, focusing on electricity infrastructure.
The Prime Minister addressed the current economic crisis affecting Iraq, underscoring the necessity for international partnerships, particularly with major economic powers. He announced the creation of the Generations Fund, with an initial allocation of 1.5 trillion dinars, to be supplemented by funds recovered from anti-corruption efforts.
Discussions with Turkey were mentioned, focusing on the withdrawal of Turkish forces from Iraqi territory. Talks with Kuwait were also highlighted, showing intent to resolve bilateral issues.
Al-Zaidi stated that five factions have agreed to disarm, with three already doing so. He also committed to releasing 500 billion dinars monthly to settle debts owed to farmers.
The Prime Minister reiterated plans to provide one million residential plots to address the housing crisis and to build new cities in each governorate, respecting local identities and histories. He stressed the importance of unity, independent decision-making, and shielding Iraq from regional conflicts to ensure societal and national stability.
