Baghdad: The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for Bilateral Relations, Ambassador Mohammed Hussein Bahr Al-Uloom, discussed with the Minister Undersecretary of the International Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, Jin Xin, prospects for strategic integration in trade corridor projects.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, a statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs indicated that "Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for Bilateral Relations, Ambassador Mohammed Hussein Bahr Al-Uloom, met during a working dinner held in Baghdad with Minister Undersecretary of the International Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, Jin Xin, and the Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to Iraq, Cui Wei, and their accompanying delegation." The statement added that "during the meeting, they discussed ways to enhance bilateral cooperation between the two countries in various fields."

Ambassador Bahr Al-Uloom emphasized during the meeting that "development and the economy constitute the backbone of the global system today," noting "Iraq's desire to be an active participant in the global economic movement by diversifying its partnerships and investments, particularly in light of the genuine security stability the country is witnessing and its significant economic and human resources, which it seeks to develop in line with the demands of the global market."

The statement continued: "The two sides also discussed the Belt and Road Initiative adopted by China, the Iraqi Development Road Project, and the prospects for strategic integration in trade corridor projects. They also stressed the importance of continuing to develop bilateral partnerships based on the agreements and memoranda of understanding signed between the two countries, in a way that serves the common interests of both peoples." The statement indicated that "the meeting addressed the importance of strengthening communication between Baghdad and Beijing at the highest levels to support cooperation in the scientific, cultural, and tourism fields, including reviewing visa procedures between the two countries and simplifying processes to revitalize various sectors."

Within the framework of Arab-Chinese cooperation, the importance of holding the second Arab-Chinese Summit and its role in strengthening rapprochement and cooperation between Arab states and the People's Republic of China was emphasized.

For his part, Jin Xin expressed "his pride in the historical relations that unite Baghdad and Beijing," stressing "the importance of strengthening cooperation within the framework of multilateral diplomacy in a way that contributes to supporting stability and peace in the region and the world."

He also presented an explanation of the Chinese vision for cooperation with countries in the region and the world, and the opportunities available to enhance partnership and joint development.
