Iraq And Iran Discuss Joint Cooperation In Agricultural Fields

Baghdad / NINA / – Minister of Agriculture, Muhammad Karim al-Khafaji, made an official visit to the Islamic Republic of Iran, during which he met his Iranian counterpart Kazem Khawazi and the governors of Tehran, Mashhad, Isfahan and Qom, separately.

According to a statement by the Ministry of Agriculture, Al-Khafaji presented the agricultural integration initiative between the two countries, which is based on the exchange of agricultural and animal products between the two ministries exclusively, to reduce smuggling, indicating that the entry of products outside the agricultural calendar causes great harm and losses to poultry producers, peasants and farmers.

According to the statement, the minister met with a number of Iranian investors, during his participation in the International Livestock and Poultry Fair in Isfahan, with a group of Iraqi poultry and fish producers, where he welcomed Iranian investments in the Iraqi agricultural sector, stressing that Iraq welcomes every foreign or local capital that contributes to developing the agricultural sector and employing the Iraqi manpower./ End
