Iraq and Iran Exchange Remains of Missing Persons from 1980s War

Basra: Today, Sunday, at the Shalamcheh border crossing in Basra Governorate, a ceremony was held to exchange the remains of those missing during the Iran-Iraq war in the 1980s between Iraq and Iran. The ceremony was attended by a number of security leaders, MPs, and government officials.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Iraqi side received the remains of 70 missing persons, while the Iranian side received the remains of 48 missing persons.

Remains are exchanged between the two countries periodically, in accordance with the 2008 Geneva Agreement.
